Sunday Night Vintage Purchase

So after visiting Red Planet yet again, I decided it was time to make my move.  And I purchased this lovely plate!  It is sure to add some pizzaz to the walls of my abode, even if it isn't a mobile home.

Saturday Activities

What I Did Today!
a very short picture essay by me.

Shopped at Needle Nook.  I love this place but rarely go because it's not as close as other stores, and I either forget or just don't have the time.  Which is sad because the close stores are the big ol' chain stores.  I am going to make a conscious effort to go here more often; not only because it's a locally run shop, but because the prices are awesome, and the fabrics are cute!  And if you want lace, elastic, or similar notions, THIS is the place; incredible variety.  I think I'm gonna make me some drawers with the rainbow elastic I purchased.

Then some gardening--no planting, just tilling and hoeing.  Everything's coming up and already starting to look like what they're supposed to look like!  Ah, they grow up so fast...

And of course we had to visit the girls.

Then, at about 10:00pm, I fried up some eggplant!!  It was excellent, but it was still supermarket produce.  I can't wait until we get our homegrown eggplants.

Block Printing - Thistle/Lotus/Flower Plant Thingy....

Here is a bit of fabric I printed up yesterday.  I like the way it turned out.  I did a little more than shown here, but probably not much more than a fat quarter.  Needless to say, I carved the block myself!  I like it.  I think it may become part of my new purse.

Yet another "composition" I love!

And yes, a naked phone jack is part of the composition...

I'm fascinated by artfully done arrangements.  (And also not-so-artfully done arrangements, like my own.)  Every morning when I walk towards the kitchen and see this, I feel such a joy!  Some people probably wouldn't understand what's so great about a few sticks, some string, an iron mermaid, and little framed pieces of fabric.  But thankfully I do!  I had to photograph it.

This is my little beet I just finished embroidering...

Easter Dress

I quit making Easter dresses for a while since the last few didn't quite turn out as I wanted them to, but I decided to give it another shot!  (Okay, technically it's an Easter two-piece.)  And I like this, even if it did take alllllll afternoon!  Made from a semi-shimmery linen with white vintage buttons.

...listing some things I've had around for a WHILE now!  For one reason or another, I never got around to it.  Check them out at the shop!

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

When a small handmade clutch slid behind a chest--from off of a huge heap of other handmade items--and I realized I'd have to move literally half of the things in the room just to move the chest, I decided it was time to do some major organizing.  So, I did not make anything today.  I did do a lot of rearranging.  But it still doesn't look like I did a lot of rearranging.  (Yes, it's that bad.)  But, I found some treasures!  And, I found something pretty groovy to share on the blog.

lovely bohemian/faery/ice-queen vest was started years and years ago, in a time when it would seem that I had a little more ambition, especially
considering I had no idea what I was doing.  It was actually completed at one point, but then I decided the bottom hem was all wrong.  It has been
sitting here with a raw hem.  But now that I've found it, I can complete it!  Yay for finding things!

(And pardon the wrinkles, I knew I had to shoot it right away or it might not get done!)
